an update and a request
Dad's surgery went as planned yesterday. The doctor completed the procedure in two hours (about 30 minutes over what we were anticipating), and when he met with us after surgery, he seemed pleased. He said dad would be experiencing some discomfort but that it shouldn't be unbearable and he has a morphine drip that he controls (to a certain degree).
Dad was pretty groggy last night from the anesthesia, but he has been more alert today. He's stayed in bed so far, but we hope to get him up and moving around by tomorrow. He's still on a liquid diet, but he says he is about ready for some real food. Luckily, they just approved a milkshake..so mom is off to Steak & Shake for that.
We are all so thankful that this season is just a season. There is beauty and sorrow in it, and we are thankful that each day brings new mercies.
I have a somewhat different type of prayer request today. Dad's pain has been manageable, and I believe he has felt your prayers. He asks everyone that sees or calls him to continue to pray- so please do!
But today, would you please pray for his heart. This is Carlie's freshman year of college, and he has missed seeing her march in the band up to this point. He will be missing the game again on Saturday (he bought season tickets for all of us), and I know his heart is hurting. The good news of that is he will be able to watch the whole Alabama game..so that's a plus.
Thank you for continuing to pray for us.
