IT'S HERE!! IT'S HERE!!!
The time I have been waiting for..my absolute favorite time of the year..has arrived folks.
Ice crunching weather is here. For those of you that missed my post about the glorious ice crunching weather days, you can catch up here. I don't have anything else super interesting to say about this- other than I am rejoicing in the 90 degree weather that everyone else is complaining about. YES YES YES! THIS GIRL IS HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY.
The last couple of weeks have been boring and exciting all at the same time.
I say that because Tye and I really haven't done a whole lot (that's a lie..I just don't feel like we have done a whole lot). It's been a blur.
We drove to South Dakota and back in one weekend for one of Tye's best friend's wedding. Now if that isn't exciting (or at least tiring), I don't know what is!
We celebrated our first anniversary on June 3 (woohoo). Tye was sick, and I was tired from work. We stayed in, tried our wedding cake (which didn't taste so great), and watched an episode or two of How I Met Your Mother.
We're party animals, I know.
As boring as that sounds to some people, this is how I want our relationship to be as we age. I want to curl up on the couch and watch whatever ridiculous show is popular at the time. I want to try new things knowing they may not be so great (whether this is a recipe, a new adventure, etc.).
I want to be reminded that our relationship is not based on what we can get out of it. It is not a contract. It is a covenant.
To completely contradict what I just said, our gifts for each other were spot on. I got Tye a gun cleaning kit, and he got me a pair of Tom's! Shoes and guns..those are the things we love.
I said goodbye (for now) to my college roommate and one of my best friends, Sarah. We met at our typical place, Cheddar's, for dinner before they pack up and move. She and her husband, Todd, are moving back to St. Louis this week. Sarah and I were so blessed to find each other when searching for college roommates. I cannot imagine what college would have looked like without her by my side every step of the way. She kept me laughing, focused, and well-rested (we both love to sleep). Thanks for being my accountability, my constant reason for giggles, and a truly selfless friend. Love you and so thankful for you!
It is amazing to look back on the last five years and see all that the Lord has accomplished in my life. There are too many blessings to count. Five years ago, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, who I would marry, who my best friends would be. I am thankful for the Lord's constant mercies. My cup is full. I can only imagine what the next 5 years will look like.
...and now, off to Florida for a week with my family!!!

Sure, going out and getting dressed up is fun..but that isn't reality all the time. We are poor, we are lazy when it comes to getting ready to go somewhere, and frankly..we like being at home. I love being around people, but I like being around them in my own home. Selfish, weird, honest. I don't know.
