An Open Letter to My Husband on Our 2nd Anniversary
Two years have come and gone quickly.
On our wedding day, we spent the day frantically making sure shirts were the correct color, lace was sewn properly, and words were repeated in the right order.
Last year, we spent the evening sick in bed..watching Friends and eating our not so well preserved cake from the year prior. We had a make-up anniversary date..in July.
This year, we will spend part of our evening in a hospital room with family and the second at a concert with every other Walmart shareholder in the world (a bit of exaggeration here-I'm also more excited about this than it sounds).
Do you know how much I love you? Two years ago, I couldn't have imagined the future as it is now. It hasn't quite been what we expected, in good ways and in bad.
We moved- twice. We gained a niece. Our closest friends moved away and had babies. We started 6 new jobs between the two of us. We left a church family and close friends. We bought a house. We landed our "dream jobs" for the time being. We dealt with the illness of a parent.
There is no one else I would rather share my life with than you. I am so thankful for your encouragement and selflessness, in this season more than ever before. This is what makes a marriage. Not just enjoying the good times, loving each other and laughing with each other. But holding each other in the hurt and pain. Listening to, praying for, and reassuring each other. Not necessarily understanding each other, but being there no matter what.
Well, we're two years in, and I'd say we're doing just fine.
